Hi Folks,
As I introduced in last week's email, the Minocqua Brewing Company Super PAC has embarked on a lawsuit to remove Senator Ron Johnson and Congressmen Tom Tiffany and Scott Fitzgerald from the 2022 ballot, accusing them of aiding the attempted presidential coup that culminated in the January 6th insurrection.
Here's the quick update--this suit is now getting airtime on large podcasts like Farron Cousin's (pictured above) and other news programs around the country, and this is why getting this story out is so important:
This lawsuit could make a huge difference in keeping Democrats in the majority of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, which we believe is ABSOLUTELY NEEDED in order to hold onto our democracy…
…and is why this should matter to you even if you don't live in Wisconsin.
If we lose the majority in either chamber, there's a good chance that a new Republican majority will simply refuse to accept the results of a Democrat winning the 2024 presidential election—which would lead to a constitutional crisis and potentially a 2nd Civil War.
This is a legitimate and righteous lawsuit that we think should be replicated in the OTHER 6 states where Trump's lawyers conspired to overturn the election by putting forth fraudulent electors and conscripting U.S. Senators and Congressmen to sow seeds of distrust and anger in voters by doubling down on the "Big Lie."
We maintain that U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland OR our state’s Attorney General Josh Kaul should be bringing these lawsuits--not us-- but they haven’t done so yet and Americans can’t wait any longer.
Lawsuits and “due process” take a LONG TIME, and if we didn’t file when we did, there would be no chance that a federal judge would consider taking these guys off the ballot because doing so too close to the next election would wreak just as much havoc on our electoral system as what these guys tried to do in the first place.
“Justice delayed is justice denied,” –William Gladstone.
Merrick Garland and Josh Kaul must know this, but again, they haven’t done anything yet and someone needed to step in…enter the Minocqua Brewing Company Super PAC.
A random brewery Super PAC shouldn’t be doing this, and our taxpayer dollars should pay for this suit, but unfortunately that’s not gonna happen.
We just cut a $70,000 check to the Milwaukee law firm Laffey, Leitner, and Goode for two months of using practically their entire staff to organize 10 plaintiffs, research the civil-war era 14th amendment, compile mountains of evidence from over the last year, and write a 70-page complaint detailing how these three defendants were part of a HUGE nationwide conspiracy to break our country.
$70K is a crazy amount of money, but we know how much work these guys did and we know the other work they had to turn down in order to take this righteous lawsuit on.
Amazingly, since I announced that we filed this lawsuit last week, we’ve already raised $47,451 from 942 people, and the average donation was $50.37! It’s truly amazing what you guys have already done to support this cause.
Our Super PAC paid the $70K bill with $43K from our reserves, but that depleted our little nest egg in a huge way, so I gotta ask for more.
The Republican Party is going to try to get this case dismissed just like the case against insurrectionist Congressman Madison Cawthorn from North Carolina--but our case is different. The judge in Cawthorn’s case was appointed by Donald Trump and his reason for dismissal was an absolute miscarriage of justice.
This corrupt judge wrote that the Amnesty Act of 1872, a bill that later granted immunity to certain confederates, superseded the 14th amendment. However, this bill specifically EXCLUDED sitting senators and representatives from such immunity because those who violated their oath to protect the Constitution were in a different class of traitors altogether. Thus the very law that this judge egregiously misapplied in order to dismiss the case against Cawthorn was in fact meant to REINFORCE the 14th Amendment for elected officials who had betrayed their country—elected officials just like Johnson, Tiffany, and Fitzgerald.
Luckily, our judge was not appointed by Trump and we think he will give us a much fairer shake, but we have to go to the mat every time the opposition throws us a curveball, and that's gonna take more resources in this case--I believe about $300K in total if we can get past a dismissal.
So that’s my ask. $230K more. Can you dig a little deeper and put some more money into the kitty so we can go the distance against these guys who tried to break our country?
Thanks for all you can do, and thanks for believing in this cause. Together, we can bring accountability to Wisconsin politicians again, one beer at a time.
